The development of new high-tech ceramic or high temperature resistant composite materials requires exact knowledge of the thermal expansion and sintering behavior.  Investigations into reactions and phase transitions are often required under extreme measurement conditions, such as very high temperatures. The different NETZSCH Dilatometer 402 models of the e-series also fulfill extreme requirements with regards to the temperature range or atmosphere.
